LPL Conversion Client Impacts
Due to the conversion with LPL in the second half of 2024, you may experience the following impacts:
Mailings & Forms
- You will receive a letter via mail or electronic delivery for each of your accounts that explains any account differences post-conversion to LPL. No action is required by you if you consent to move your accounts to LPL.
- You will receive an account confirmation letter after your account(s) has been established at LPL. No action is required unless something is incorrect.
- You will receive two statements in December 2024, one from LPL and a final statement from National Financial Services (“NFS”) that will show the account was closed and left with zero balance.
- You may receive two 1099s in January/February 2025, one from LPL (if there is reportable income at LPL between conversion and the end of 2024) and one from NFS.
- You may receive two 1099-Rs in January 2025, one from NFS and one from LPL. If you process all Required Minimum Distributions. (RMDs) with NFS prior to conversion, you will only receive one 1099-R from NFS in January 2025.
- Direct business accounts (e.g., mutual fund accounts, insurance policies and annuities contracts housed at their respective firms) will continue to remain at the sponsor/Carrier firms and will not transfer to LPL. These accounts will appear on your LPL consolidated statements and in your Advisor’s portal after 2-3 statement cycles post-conversion.
Money Movement
- Check writing features will need to be reestablished post-conversion. You can work with your advisor to re-establish check writing features on your accounts.
- 1st party periodic contribution or distribution instructions will move to LPL in the transition process. You will need to work with your advisor for any non-RMD 3rd party instructions.
- You will need to work directly with your 3rd party providers to re-establish instructions for external direct deposits (e.g., Social Security Deposits, tax refunds, employer payroll deposits) to your LPL accounts post-conversion.
Investor Portal
- If you hold investment products, you will have access to LPL’s AccountView (desktop and mobile app) and you will be able to log in to AccountView via MyPru, leveraging your existing credentials.
- LPL’s AccountView will also display a subset of Life & Annuity data with easy access (without additional log-in) to MyPru for full details.
